Renaissance North West, who support our regional museums, asked us for an identity to promote natural science. We devised a name, Curiosities, and a strapline, 'for the naturally curious', to conjure up cases full of treasures gathered from the natural world.
The identity used illustrations of flora and fauna – feathers, reptile skin, leaves, seed pods, bones and so on – for the marque, alongside inky handwriting inspired by naturalists' journals. A rolling series of advertisements used a photographic version of the same idea. The identity has been adopted for the scheme and rolled out in a host of participating venues, including Manchester Museum and John Rylands Library, Deansgate.
